Hi Vis Trousers

(48 products)

Hi vis trousers put reflective tape and fluorescent fabric on your legs – the zone most often obscured when you're kneeling, crouching, or working low to the ground. Standard work trousers won't meet EN ISO 20471, the certification that defines how much reflective material you need for roadside, railway, and site work.

Your main decision: Class 1 or Class 2? Class 1 suits warehouse environments and low-traffic zones (vehicles under 19mph). Class 2 is mandatory for highways maintenance, railway trackwork, and any role where vehicles travel above 25mph. The extra fluorescent material and reflective banding give drivers greater recognition distance – critical when reaction time determines whether someone spots you in time.

Construction Types and Fabrics
  • Waterproof hi vis trousers – sealed seams and breathable membranes (5,000–10,000mm hydrostatic head) keep you dry during full outdoor shifts; compare with hi vis overtrousers if you prefer layering over regular work clothes
  • Cargo styles – polycotton or polyester with reinforced knees and tool pockets positioned outside certification zones
  • 4-way stretch – suits physically demanding roles (climbing, kneeling, bending); fabric moves rather than restricts

Colour choice matters. Fluorescent yellow performs best in bright daylight. Orange hi vis trousers meet Network Rail's RIS-3279-TOM standard and suit dusty environments where yellow fades into the background. Reflective bands wrap horizontally around legs for 360-degree visibility – vertical strips look distinctive but don't provide all-angle recognition.
